Anyone else’s dog refusing to sleep at night?

So my dog, Suki (10 months old, Belgian Malinois), just won’t settle down at night. She’s super active—running, playing, and biting stuff—and it takes HOURS to get her to sleep. I’ve tried walking her to burn energy, but it doesn’t seem to help. She sleeps with me because she cries and barks non-stop if we crate her. I’m working with a trainer, but I was wondering if anyone here has tips to help her (and me) get a good night’s rest?

Have you tried mentally stimulating toys? Like treat-dispensing balls or a Kong Genius? Those work wonders for my dog.

No, I haven’t! Do you just fill those with kibble, or is there something else you use?

Yeah, kibble works, but I also add tiny bits of soft treats for the smell. Keeps my dog busy for ages!

That sounds perfect. I’ll grab one this week. Thanks!

Walking is great, but have you tried brain games? Training sessions can really tire them out mentally.

We’re doing basic training with a pro, but I hadn’t thought about doing it at night. Any suggestions for at-home exercises?

Simple stuff works! Like sit, stay, or even hiding treats around the room for her to find.

Ever tried a white noise machine or a fan? It’s super calming for some dogs.

Oh, I haven’t. That’s such a good idea. Does it help with barking too?

Yep, it can! It masks background noises that might be keeping her on edge.

What about calming treats? I’ve seen ones with turkey or chamomile that work for my hyper pup.

I’ve never heard of those! Do they actually work?

Yeah, they helped my dog chill out at bedtime. Worth a try!

Belgian Malinois are high-energy dogs! You might need to combine physical and mental exercise to really tire her out.

Yeah, I’m realizing walks alone aren’t enough. Any ideas for mixing it up?

Training + toys + a long walk = sleepy dog. Trust me, it’s all about balance.
