I am trying to learn proper dog training and find TV shows and books helpful. Has anyone watched the Lucky Dog show? I catch it on Hulu, but I am not sure what channel it’s originally on.
I am asking because I have heard that Cesar Millan’s methods might not be the best, and I want to avoid learning incorrect techniques. Any thoughts on “Lucky Dog”?
Victoria Stilwell is a good positive trainer if you’re looking for a good show. In general, anything from the Wiki on YouTube is a useful source.
Ceaser Milan’s methods should be avoided since they are founded on the flawed pack theory, which employs intimidation and terror tactics.
Although I haven’t watched the show, I think that it can be quite helpful to watch someone train. I’m not familiar with the techniques employed, though. Zak George and Kikopup are worth checking out on YouTube if you haven’t already. Donna Hill, Kristin Crestejo, and Training Positive all have excellent training resources.
