Anyone’s dog started peeing/pooping inside after digestive issues?

My 8 month old mini Goldendoodle, Penny, was doing great until a month ago when she started having digestive issues. After some watery, mucus-filled poop, we took her to the vet, who gave her probiotics and a bland diet. She seemed to be improving, but then she started pooping and peeing inside again, mostly early in the morning. We’ve tried to go back to our regular routine, but it’s like she’s mixed up. Anyone have any ideas on how to get her back on track? Any advice would be super helpful!

Aww, poor Penny. My dog did something similar when we had to change his diet. Have you tried using a playpen at night to limit her space?

That’s a good idea! I didn’t think about a playpen, just had her in the living room. I’ll give it a try, thanks!

Did the vet mention anything about probiotics? I think they’re helpful but not always the magic fix. Did she get Forti Flora for her gut?

Yeah, she got probiotics, but I think they were just capsules we sprinkle on her food. I’ll ask about Forti Flora though, maybe that’ll help!

You might want to retrain her for outdoors only. When my dog started peeing inside, we had to go back to basics and only let him out on a leash at potty time. It helped!

I’ve been doing that a bit but not consistently. Maybe that’s why she’s still confused. I’ll start doing that more often, thanks!

I think the digestive issue might still be affecting her. That could mess with her routine. But the crate or playpen idea could really help her get back on track.

Yeah, that’s what I’m worried about. I’m hoping her routine can get back to normal soon though. I’ll try limiting her space more and see if it helps!

For the housebreaking part, you might want to start using a potty bell by the door. Eventually, she might ring it herself to let you know when she needs to go out.

I’ve heard of that! I’m going to give it a shot. I really hope it works, lol. Thanks for the tip!
