I’m thinking about getting a wireless electric fence for my furry friend, but I’m on the fence about whether it’s the right choice. My dog loves to roam around the yard, but lately, he’s been a little too adventurous and escaping occasionally. While a traditional fence isn’t really in the cards right now, I’m wondering if a wireless electric fence could be a good alternative. If anyone has experience with wireless electric fences, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Wireless electric fence is easy to set up and move around, plus you can adjust the boundaries quickly. But it has limits, like not working well on hilly ground and needing your dog to learn where the boundaries are. It might not stop every determined dog from getting out. Consider these factors before deciding if it’s right for your pup.
An electric fence wouldn’t be the best… However, If you have to, try a white electric fence tape for horses because it has a lower shock than the one for cattle. Case in point, we tried a wireless fence for our dog, but she ignored it. After about a month of having the white electric tape up, she learned to avoid any white tape through classical conditioning, that is, anytime she hears the fence “ticking.” Furthermore, her hearing is better than ours because I can only hear it if there’s a short.
