Do those dog training buttons really work?

I’ve been seeing these dog training buttons everywhere… you know, the ones that play words like ‘walk’ or ‘treat’ when the dog presses them? Are they worth it? Do they really help, or is it just a gimmick? I’m wondering if they’d make my dog’s life better or if I should just stick to traditional training.

I tried them with my dog, and they kinda worked. He learned ‘treat’ pretty quickly but didn’t really care about ‘walk’ lol. You could try using them for fun!

What brand did you use? I’ve been looking into this but IDK which one to get.

Oh, I got the cheap ones from Amazon. They worked fine for basic stuff, but IDK how long they’ll last.

Honestly, you can just teach your dog those words without the buttons. Like, say ‘walk’ every time you take him for one, and he’ll get it eventually.

Good point! I guess I could just repeat the words like normal training. Do you think the buttons make it easier though?

Maybe for some dogs? Mine didn’t really care about pressing buttons lol. But if your dog likes learning new stuff, it could be fun to try.

I think they’re a cool way to add variety to training. My dog loves pressing things, so it worked great for us!

Does it take long to train them with the buttons? Like, how do you even start?

Not too long! Just start by pairing the button with the action. For example, say ‘treat’ and press the button before giving one. Repeat that a few times, and they’ll get it.

I think it depends on the dog’s personality. Some might find it fun, while others just ignore it.

Yeah, mine ignored it completely lol. Guess he’s too lazy to press a button for a treat.

Haha, same with my older dog. My puppy, though, is obsessed with pressing anything. Total hit for her!

I’ve read they’re good for mental stimulation. If your dog gets bored easily, they might be worth a try.

What do you mean by mental stimulation? Like keeping them busy?

Exactly! It’s like giving them a puzzle to solve. Helps tire them out mentally, which is just as important as physical exercise.
