Dog "boot camp" anyone?

Hi guys, I need some advice about our 6-month-old Goldendoodle, who is mostly a dream but has a few challenging behaviors:

  • Barks at everything, everyone, all the dogs, and even leaves.
  • Bites her leash outside (she’s done this since we got here at 7 months).
  • Struggles with “loose-leash” walking without excessive treats.

We’re moving about an hour away, and with both of us having stressful jobs, we’re considering sending her to a local “doggy boot camp” that has great reviews. The trainer offers two weeks of intensive training in his home and has impressive “before and after” results. He mentioned that her barking might be due to improper greeting training and suggested using a bark collar if needed.

Question 1: Is it traumatizing or inhumane to use a bark collar during a 2-week training camp, if necessary?

Question 2: Has anyone here used a “boot camp” for their dog? What was your experience?

I’m not a fan of shock collars myself. My neighbor’s dog had one, and it seemed really stressful for him. There might be better ways to teach quiet greetings.

Boot camps can be great! I had a friend who sent her retriever to one for leash pulling, and he came back a changed dog. Just make sure the reviews are legit and the trainer uses positive methods.
