Heeey people…I’m looking to teach my dog some new tricks and want to keep it fun and engaging for both of us. We’ve nailed the basics like sit and stay—what are some creative or unique tricks your pups love? Any tips on how to train them would be awesome too!

I use “touch,” where my dog touches my palm with her nose. I taught her this for when we go on off-leash hikes. If she starts to lag behind, I say “Touch,” and she runs to me and touches her nose to my hand.

If you have a young and healthy dog, you can teach them to walk on their back legs! It’s a cool trick.
Hello Emma, Here are some fun and creative tricks to teach your dog:
- “High Five”: Hold your hand out and reward your dog when they lift their paw. Gradually raise your hand higher.
- “Play Dead”: Use a command like “bang” and reward your dog when they lay down.
- “Bow”: Encourage your dog to lower their front legs into a bowing position.
- “Spin”: Start with a simple turn and gradually increase the speed.
- “Crawl”: Encourage your dog to move forward on their belly.
Training Tips:
- Keep it short and sweet: Short, frequent sessions are more effective.
- Positive reinforcement: Use treats, praise, or toys to reward success.
- Clicker training: Use a clicker to mark desired behaviors and reward immediately.
- Patience is key: Celebrate small victories and be consistent.
I taught my brother’s dog to stick them up, Sit with both paws in the air, and twist. My lab mix understands the difference between speaking and whispering.
