Has anyone else’s dog been acting off after a grooming visit?

so my 8-year-old rescue dog, Cocoa, a mix of chihuahua and weiner dog, has been having some issues since her recent grooming at PetSmart. On day 1, she had a poop accident in the house, which is unusual for her since she’s potty trained. On day 2, she wasn’t eating at all, and on day 3, she ate a bit but then threw up twice. First, it was yellow bile, and then she had two more accidents in the house, though she’s still going outside too. The only thing that changed is her grooming visit the day before all this started. Anyone else dealt with similar after grooming visits? Did it get better on its own, or should I be worried?

I’m sorry to hear about Cocoa. That’s strange behavior after a grooming visit! It could be stress from the grooming experience, or maybe she’s feeling off from something else. I’d say keep an eye on her. If she keeps throwing up or stops eating for too long, definitely talk to your vet.

I had a similar thing happen to my dog. She had a bath and nail trim, and then acted super lethargic and even had a couple of accidents. I think it might just be the stress. Try feeding Cocoa some boiled chicken and rice like the vet would recommend for upset stomachs. That might help!

This happened to my dog once after grooming too! He didn’t eat and was throwing up bile. I had to wait it out and make sure he had a calm place to rest. Cocoa might just need some time to get back to normal.

Poor Cocoa! If she’s not eating, it could also be related to her stomach being upset from the stress or just the grooming itself. Maybe give her a little more time to relax and try offering some soft food. Hope she feels better soon!

Same thing happened with my dog after a visit to PetSmart. I think the bath and stuff might’ve just overwhelmed her. If she’s still eating and drinking okay, it might not be anything to worry about, but keep an eye on her and let the vet know if things don’t improve soon.
