How can I stop my Yorkies from fighting all the time?

I have two female Yorkies, ages 7 and 3, and they just won’t stop fighting. It’s like they want to kill each other sometimes. I’ve tried breaking them up, ultrasonic devices, working with a behaviorist, and even training programs, but nothing has worked so far. The older one, Remy, is the aggressive one, while the younger one, Stella, is super calm and sweet. I can’t rehome Remy, but I feel bad for Stella since she’s always getting attacked. I’m seeing the vet soon, but does anyone have any tips or advice on what else I can try? This is so stressful, and I’m out of ideas.

Have you tried the Nothing in Life Is Free program (NILIF)? It’s where the dog earns everything by following commands. It might help establish some structure and reduce aggression.

What’s NILIF exactly? Never heard of it before.

@CelestialRogue
It’s basically a system where your dog has to earn things like food, treats, or attention by listening to commands. For example, make them sit before they eat. It helps with behavior control.

I’ve heard of NILIF, but isn’t it hard to keep up with multiple dogs?

@EmmanuelBrown
It can be a challenge, but even small steps can make a difference. Start with the aggressive dog first and go from there.

Have you tried clicker training? It’s worked wonders for me with my rescue dogs.

I used to train service dogs with clickers, but it hasn’t worked well for me with this pack. It’s hard with more than one dog.

Yeah, clicker training is more of a one-on-one thing. Maybe focus on the aggressive one first?

Have you tried separating them completely for a while and reintroducing them slowly? Like starting fresh?

I’ve thought about it, but I’d need a better plan. They’re usually okay when apart, but it’s chaos when they’re together again.

Maybe keep them apart for longer, then reintroduce with controlled activities like walks or training sessions together?

Does the older one, Remy, have any medical issues? Sometimes health problems can cause aggression.

That’s a good point. I’m seeing the vet tomorrow to talk about that and other options.

Hope the vet has some answers. Sometimes aggression can be linked to pain or discomfort.

What about a boarding program? It might give you a break and help Remy with her behavior.

I’ve considered that too. It might be worth looking into, but I’d need to find a really good one.

Try to find one that specializes in aggressive dogs. It could make a big difference.
