Hey everyone, I need advice about my dog, Carti. She has a habit of peeing indoors, even after we take her outside multiple times. She’s even peed in her crate and on pet beds when no one’s looking. We take her out at least twice in the morning before work and a few times after we get home. Any tips on how to handle this? Should we change something in her routine or try a new method?
Have you tried praising her a lot and giving treats when she pees outside? That can make a big difference.

We do praise her, but maybe not enough excitement. Should it be over-the-top kind of praise?

Yeah, go all out! Make it a big deal when she does it outside. Treats and a happy tone really help.
Could it be a medical issue like a bladder infection? If this is new, maybe a vet visit would help.

We checked with the vet a few months ago, and they said she’s healthy. But maybe I should follow up again?

Yeah, worth checking just to rule it out. If she’s healthy, it might just be a behavior thing.
Have you thought about training her to ring a bell when she needs to go out? It worked wonders for my dog.

I’d love to try that! How do you even start training a dog to use a bell?

Hang a bell near the door. Ring it each time you take her out, and she’ll eventually associate it with going outside.

That sounds simple enough! I’ll get some bells and try it. Thanks!
What do you do when she pees indoors? Catching her in the act and redirecting her might help.

If I catch her, should I just take her outside right away? Or is there something else I should do?

Yep, calmly grab her collar and guide her outside. Don’t scold, just redirect her to the right spot.
Using a deterrent might help with repeat spots. Something like cayenne pepper can stop her from going there again.

Interesting! How do I use it? Just sprinkle it on the spot?

Exactly. Clean the area first, then sprinkle a bit. Most dogs won’t go near the spot again.
