My dogs have a grass-eating obsession

I do everything to engage my dogs in activities in the garden, but I never seem to be able to capture their interest. They glance up and carry on munching on the grass. They haven’t puked in my observation. How can I attract their attention and is there a chance it stems from the stuff they eat?

Edit: I appreciate all of your replies. I’m relieved not to have to worry at the moment. Best wishes for you and your dogs :slightly_smiling_face:

Don’t allow her to control you in that way. You must give her a hard look and begin stuffing handfuls of grass into your mouth. You’ll be the joker/alpha again after you’ve consumed more grass than her.

For me, it’s dirt and grass. Told two different vets the same thing. tried enriching her meals with minerals. She’s alright, the vet says; some dogs just enjoy consuming grass and dirt. Not sure. She is strange. If I feed him an apple or carrot, he’ll look at me like I’m crazy, but yumm dirt!

Same here, oh my! Such strange behavior, such as offering a hot dog, then saying, “Oh no, you’d rather eat that bit of dirt.” Alright!

This is also what my dog does. When I asked the veterinarian about it, he indicated that some dogs, particularly labs like mine, just did it. He eats foliage as well; in fact, he’ll leap at a limb to pick a leaf, just like a giraffe. Other than the fact that he tries to eat long grass and gets it stuck in his butt when he defecate, I don’t really mind. That isn’t enjoyable for anyone.

My childhood dog and the foster dog I had both occasionally ate grass when their stomachs were upset and they needed to let go of something. My current dog, however, is not fond of grass, though it appears to be a frequent behavior among some dogs.

So this is common, but how do we deal with this?
