Perhaps, but there is no evidence that treating cataracts is one of them

Hello. I have a female Shih Tzu who is turning four years old. My dog has been scratching every minute, and there is also a black wound (?) that is thick. I’m concerned because she has so many of these wounds. I also spotted some little, white insects moving about the incision sites. What might it be? How do I treat it? It would be greatly appreciated if you could provide some recommendations and treatments for this one. Thank you!

The first advice is to take her to the vet; if she is scratching, something is clearly bothering her, and you can’t cure something correctly unless you know what it is.

Sorry for making assumptions, but I’m guessing English isn’t your primary language. So, do the insects near the wounds resemble flies with wings, or grubs?

Please take your dog to the vet as soon as possible. It seems like there are open infected sores, which can lead to a variety of undesirable outcomes, including parasites in your dog’s muscles or blood. She could have maggots in her wounds or develop gangrene. You cannot address this on your own, and attempting to do so may exacerbate the problem. Please don’t wait another day; take her to the vet.

Agreed, the next step should be to take your dog to a veterinarian for evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.

I believe it is comparable to grubs, but it is much tiny and cannot be seen unless you take a close look.

That was what worried me: they could be fly larvae, physically consuming her. If you haven’t taken her to the vet yet, please do so immediately.

Thank you for your suggestions. She is getting better now.

Have you taken her to the veterinarian? If not, you need to do it! Even if it appears to be healed, whatever it is has most likely produced eggs inside her flesh, which might lead to a slew of future issues. Please have her inspected by a veterinarian.
