What Are Some Breeds Known for Having Low Prey Drive?

Are There Dogs with Low Prey Drive? I have multiple small pets at home (like guinea pigs, rats, rabbits, and hamsters) and I’m thinking about getting a medium or large dog eventually. Are there specific dog breeds with inherently lower prey drives that I should consider? Also, what should I keep in mind to ensure a safe environment for all my pets?

Avoid hunting dogs and terriers. I’d suggest looking into livestock guardian dogs if you can properly care for them.

Absolutely! I have a Great Pyrenees, and he would protect our cat with his life.

Absolutely, I can confirm that too. I have three Great Pyrenees mixes, and I’ve left them alone with my house bunny overnight with no worries. The bunny would even nap on top of them. They’re also great with tiny baby chickens and birds. Not an aggressive bone in them, at least in mine. They grew up with chickens and ducks, but the bunny was new, and they accepted and cared for it right away. Such good dogs.
