Why is my bulldog attacking my sons on the bed?

Hey everyone, I have an 8-year-old bulldog who’s my everything! But lately, she’s been attacking my two sons out of nowhere. It only happens when we’re all on the bed. I’m really confused as to why this is happening… Anyone know what’s going on?

Hmm, that’s tough! It sounds like she might be being protective of the bed. Does she act the same way when you’re not on the bed with her?

Yeah, I never thought of it like that. She only does it when we’re all on the bed together. If it’s just her and my sons, she’s fine, as long as I’m in the room.

Sounds like she’s claiming the bed as her territory. Have you tried setting boundaries like keeping her off the bed?

I’ve been thinking about that. I’ll try keeping her off the bed and see if that helps. I just hate to see her get upset.

I’ve heard about this happening with dogs who get possessive over certain spaces. Maybe try giving her her own bed on the floor and see if that changes things?

That’s a good idea! I’ll set something up next to the bed and see if that helps her calm down.

I had a similar issue with my dog. The ‘Nothing in Life is Free’ program really helped with her behavior. It’s worth a shot if you haven’t tried it.

What’s the ‘Nothing in Life is Free’ program? I’m not familiar with it.

Oh, it’s where you control the dog’s needs and rewards, like calling them to you for a treat or giving them food only after they do something. It helps establish boundaries.

It sounds like she’s just feeling protective over the bed and maybe a little jealous. Dogs can get territorial over places they feel are ‘theirs’.
