Adopted a rescue dog three days ago. He was great yesterday, but today he keeps growling, especially when he’s on his blanket. Not sure what’s up—any advice?
Sounds like he might still be adjusting to the new environment. It can take a few weeks or even months for rescues to settle in fully.

That makes sense! I was worried something was wrong already. So it’s normal for him to act a little off?
@LillyGrace
Totally normal! Give him time and avoid making direct eye contact—sometimes that can make them feel more uneasy.
Could it be resource guarding? My rescue did that with toys for a while. Try taking the toy away to see if it changes anything.

Interesting! I’ll try removing his Nyla bone next time. How did you handle the guarding behavior with your dog?
@LillyGrace
I worked with a trainer, but I also just kept interactions low-key. Walks without toys helped him feel less defensive.
We had a similar issue—our rescue was extra growly for the first week. Just took things slow and avoided petting too much. It helped.

Good tip. I’ll try holding back a bit on the affection for now. Thanks!
Also, make sure he’s comfortable with a leash on. Walking him around the house on a leash can make him feel more secure.

Hadn’t thought of that! So just let him drag the leash around inside?
@LillyGrace
Exactly! It helps with boundaries and makes him feel more at ease. It worked well with our rescue.
Resource guarding can be tricky. I’d recommend finding a trainer if it persists. Sometimes rescues need that extra guidance.

Got it, I’ll look into a trainer if he doesn’t ease up soon. Thanks for the advice!
