I’ve read mixed opinions about the use of shock collars for training dogs. Some sources suggest they can cause stress and increase unwanted behaviors, while others argue they can be effective if used correctly. What has been your experience with shock collars? Are they truly harmful, or can they be a useful training tool?

Shock collars are generally considered harmful to dogs. They may cause fear, pain, and stress, leading to behavior problems like aggression or phobias. Despite claims of short-term results, these collars can negatively impact your dog’s well-being and overall behavior. More humane training methods are recommended.

My dog was not properly trained as a puppy and had developed some problematic habits, as I rescued him from people who were going to sell him for drugs. Since I do not have a fenced yard and live near a road, this system has been crucial.
