Citronella Dog Collars for Barking

Hey everyone, I’ve been exploring different methods to manage my dog’s barking, and I recently came across citronella dog collars. I’ve heard mixed reviews about their effectiveness and safety. Has anyone here used one before, and if so, what was your experience like? I’m curious about how well they work and whether they’re a humane option. Any insights would be greatly appreciated…

I tried a citronella collar for my dog a while back. It did help cut down the barking, but my dog didn’t love the smell. It was safe and humane, though—just make sure it’s adjusted correctly. In my case, it was better than some other options, but it might be worth trying a few different things to see what works best for your pup

Avoid these products. We used one for our Schnauzer, but it malfunctioned. I’m not sure how it got stuck, but while we were out for a walk, the spray started leaking continuously. I shielded the dog with my hand and removed the collar. It only took around 20 or 30 seconds, but the spray froze my palm where it hit (the gas must be very cold when it’s released). The freezing caused my palm to blister like a third-degree burn. After that incident, we threw the product away. I hate to imagine what would have happened to the dog if I hadn’t acted quickly enough.
