How do you get your dog to learn to lay down without the treat to nose then floor method?

My dog and I have been trying it for days, but I have not noticed any changes. He is unable to use the treat to nose then floor method. Is there another way?

To attract him, I have tried a lot of different treats. a few times during the day. He is not going to give up. Do you have any other techniques for teaching him how to lay down?

Hey dog breeders
learning a new command takes time.
Keep training sessions brief and positive.
Slowly reduce treats as your dog improves.

You may be moving the lure too quickly. It should be very close to your dog’s nose the entire time and moved in tiny increments. If you’re sweeping it from nose to floor while increasing the distance between nose and treat, you lose the probability that the dog will follow.

You can stay in a small room like the bathroom and wait to capture the behavior. The more boring the room, the faster pup will get bored and lay down.

If pup is small enough, you can bend your knee and try luring him under your knee. He’ll need to crouch and crawl under.

You can do the same as above with a chair if he’s too big to go under your knee.

Also, if this is an older/larger dog, they may have hip/joint issues that make laying down uncomfortable

If they’re nervous or skittish, they may be afraid to lay down as it puts them in a very vulnerable position.

Bend one leg so that your foot, hip, and knee make a triangle with your knee on top. Sit on the ground. Take a treat and put it under the bridge you’ve made with your leg. If only his chest goes down, either draw him deeper or wait for him to leave.
