Hey all, I’m dealing with a tricky situation and could use some advice. My 2-year-old Goldendoodle, Willie, gets anxious and sometimes aggressive whenever my wife and I show affection, like hugging. I’m a dog trainer myself but haven’t been able to find a permanent solution. Anyone else dealt with this? Any tips for a positive, long-term behavior adjustment?
Yeah, I’ve had a similar issue with my dog. Have you tried using redirection techniques? Like giving Willie a Kong with peanut butter?

I’ve used that before for other things, but I’m hoping for something more permanent, not just a distraction.

FYI, the Kong method can work as a starting point while you build long-term habits. Just a thought!
Maybe it’s about bonding? Who spends the most time with Willie? Dogs sometimes act out for attention.

Good question. My wife walks him the most, but we both spend a lot of time with him.

Bonding could definitely help. Maybe you can take over more walks or do extra training sessions together?
Ever tried a calming diffuser or toy? Those can sometimes ease anxiety during high-stress moments.

Not yet, but I’ve heard mixed things about those. Do they actually work?

They worked for my pup! It won’t solve everything, but it can be part of a bigger solution.
Sounds like you’re looking for something deeper. Have you considered consulting with a vet for advice? Sometimes they can suggest behavioral therapy or other solutions.

Yeah, I might need to explore that. Just hoping to avoid medication if possible.

Totally get that. Some vets focus on non-medicated strategies too. Worth asking!
