Hey everyone! How often do you brush your dog’s teeth? I have heard a lot of different advice on this people brush their dog’s teeth every night as part of their routine, while others do it once a week, and some probably don’t do it at all. I have a 5-month-old dachshund puppy, and we are still getting the hang of brushing his teeth. In the meantime, we are giving him dental treats. Lately, I have noticed his breath smells bad, and I am wondering if we are not brushing his teeth enough.
hi gideon my vet says certain dog breeds, particularly small ones, are predisposed to dental issues and may benefit from regular brushing. Additionally, as dogs age, they become more vulnerable to dental problems, necessitating more frequent brushing for senior dogs.
Hi, If daily brushing is not feasible, aim to brush your dog’s teeth at least several times a week. This still provides benefits in reducing plaque and maintaining oral hygiene.
Hey there Gideon. Your pup’s bad breath is a sign you might need to step up the brushing or try a different toothpaste/brush combo. Twice or three times a week is a good goal. Start slow with your puppy and build it into a routine. If the bad breath persists or your puppy seems uncomfortable, talk to your vet. They can check for any underlying issues and recommend the best dental care routine for your furry friend.
