How to help my two dogs get along better?

Hey everyone! I’ve got two dogs, Judy and Sammy. Judy’s a bit reactive towards Sammy, but I really want to help them bond better. I’ve heard that taking walks together can help—any other tips or activities that might work? This morning, Judy went for Sammy again, but I was able to step in and scold her at the moment, so I think that’s progress! Let me know if you’ve dealt with anything similar. Thanks in advance!

Walking together is a great start! Have you tried parallel play, like tossing a toy for one dog while the other watches?

I haven’t, but that sounds like a good idea! Does it help them associate good vibes with each other?

Exactly! It’s low-pressure and lets them enjoy being near each other without feeling competitive.

How about feeding them at the same time but in separate areas? Like with a baby gate between them.

We kind of do that already! Judy eats in one spot, Sammy in another. Should I reward calm behavior after?

Yep! Treats and praise when they’re calm near each other can help reinforce that being chill together is a good thing.

Training sessions with both dogs could help too. Use commands they already know and reward them both for good behavior.

Oh, like having them sit or stay near each other? That might actually work—thanks!

Yeah, exactly! It helps them focus on you and see being together as a positive experience.

Creating a cozy downtime spot for them could work too. Supervise them while they rest together to build trust.

Oh, like a shared blanket or bed? That could be cute if they can stay calm lol.

Exactly! Keep it supervised at first, and they might surprise you with how well they settle down.

Sounds like you’re doing great already! Interrupting Judy’s behavior in the moment is key. Patience is your best friend here.

Thanks, I feel like I’m slowly getting the hang of it! It’s a process, for sure.
