My dog hasn’t had a bowel movement in days... advice?

My dog, Mace, has been eating his canned food fine but hasn’t had a bowel movement in at least 5 days. He’s a 7-year-old pit mix and doesn’t seem to be in pain or discomfort. Any tips on what I could do to help him out?

Sounds rough! Have you tried adding pumpkin? It’s supposed to help with fiber and digestion.

Yeah, I actually did! Just once a day though. Do you think twice daily would work better?

Definitely worth a try twice a day. It’s a natural fiber boost, and it can get things moving if they’re backed up.

Is he on a senior diet or adult? My vet suggested switching my dog to a senior formula around that age for easier digestion.

Just adult food right now. Might look into senior options if this doesn’t clear up soon.

If he’s still straining without results, you could try Greek yogurt. It has probiotics to help his gut!

Good idea! I’ll start adding it to his meals today. Thanks!

Have you checked if he’s actually constipated? Sometimes my dog will go in the yard, and I don’t notice right away.

Yeah, we’ve been keeping an eye on him. It’s definitely been a few days.

Got it! Maybe try some warm baths or extra walks—those can help things along too.

If you don’t see a change, might be time to see a vet. They could do some tests to see what’s up.

Yeah, if things don’t improve, I’ll probably take him in. Thanks for the advice!
