I am having an issue with my dog where she seems to get upset and gently hits me with her paw when I stop petting her. It is clear she wants more attention, but I am not sure if this is a behavioral issue or just a quirk of hers. Has anyone else experienced something similar? What is the best way to address this behavior without reinforcing it too much?
Who is really training who here? She knows it works, so she’s not clueless. But the minute she does this, you should walk away—no reward, no game. Just remember, now that she’s learned it, you’ll need to be consistent for a long time to break the habit.
Yeah we have to train them that it doesn’t usually go their way. Maybe she should start by when the dog hits, she should say to her “no hitting/punching” and then walk away. She will definitely do this a couple of times more and realize that it ain’t working and that isn’t how tp go about the situation.
