Hi,
I have a 13 week old pure bred golden retriever. He has one bump on his belly that looks like a pimple…Its raised and looks like it is filled with yellow pus. I have not noticed him itching or chewing at it. Does any one else have a similar experience with something like this? I am going to the vet tomorrow just for a routine check-up but I would like to know if its something I should be concerned about right now or if there is some kind of at home treatment I should use on it in the mean time. I have attached an image. Thanks so much for the help!
I actually just discussed this with my vet yesterday! It’s common for puppies to get rashes, blackheads, and whiteheads on their bellies. My vet called it “puppy pyoderma.”
We’re monitoring Aayla’s condition, and if it doesn’t improve by the time she’s a year old, we might consider allergies, although she doesn’t show any other allergy symptoms. When you take your puppy in for shots, definitely mention it to your vet to be sure, but I wouldn’t be overly concerned.
Thanks for your helpful response!!
I’d discuss it with the vet when you see them; the photo shows it to be mildly infected. Slightly green with a crimson border. However, I would not panic.
Did anything come from this? I only noticed one pustule like this on my dog’s stomach, and she’s about two years old. However, there is no redness or itching, and her attitude and appetite are unaffected.
