Training a 1 year old dog to poop outside… desperately need help

I now have a dog and my roommate moved out. She is amazing. However, it takes her ages to urinate outside. When I turn my back after feeding her, dog poop is on the carpet.

I walk her outdoors, and it takes us more than thirty minutes to find a place for her. I was ordered to just stand there until it became so dull that she would go. Nope. Together with me, she stands there.

Do you take her in right away after she poops? If she enjoys being outside, she will take longer and longer trips to the restroom in order to maximise her outdoor time. You should reward her after she poops with some more outdoor time (counterintuitive, I know), a snack, or a game of ball. By bringing her inside immediately after going poop, you may unintentionally “punish” her excellent behaviour.

Do not base your decision to go back inside on when she poops!

In my experience with my dogs, they will usually follow a certain schedule. For example, my pup used to poop in the early morning hours during my daily morning walk, so at such times, I would always ensure that I am outside. After some time, when he wanted to poop he would always be antsy and try to get me to open the door. That is how I successfully managed to train it
