What are some effective strategies for teaching a puppy to go potty outside and avoid accidents in the house?

I recently got a 10 weeks old puppy and I’ve been trying to potty train her with pads and regular trips outside every couple of hours. I’ve watched countless tutorials, but she’s not getting the hang of it. Any tips to help us out?

Consistency will help you so much. Try and stick to only one routine and stop doing so much trial and errors.

Thanks @Luka but could you have any specific routine in mind, that could help make the training easier?

It’s all about a consistent routine: feed, then take them outside; an hour later, back outside to the same spot. When they go, shower them with praise right away. I only used puppy pads for the first few weeks because I didn’t want to encourage indoor potty habits. If you’re okay with using pads, just make sure to praise them for going there. It’s a process that takes time and patience, and there will definitely be some bumps along the way. Crate training is also a great option during this phase, providing them with a safe, cozy space. There are plenty of online resources to help with that. Best of luck, and remember, patience and persistence are key!

I keep a close watch on new pups indoors. The moment they try to go potty, I give a firm ‘NO!’ and rush them outside. This method has worked like a charm with six dogs so far, they all quickly learn to head for the door!
