I play hide and seek with her toys inside the house, and she goes crazy for it. I started by teaching her the command “find it” with strong-smelling treats.
During winter, I toss treats into the snow and let her sniff them out. I live up north where we often have several feet of snow, and scenting games always wear her out.
How about agility? I got my dog a small tunnel and a hula hoop for some fun. He loves chasing balls and treats through them.
For scent work, I hide treats under pots or cups and have him use his paw to find the one with the treat. You can also play hide and seek or teach a “go find” game if your dog can wait out of sight. Teach your dog the names of a few toys, then hide one and say, “go find [toy name]”, it’s a fun game as your dog searches for it.
Hi,
Try agility training, hiking, or interactive toys to engage your dog. Activities like scent work, dog-friendly parks, or even dog yoga can also provide mental and physical stimulation for both of you.
Unleash your lab’s potential with new activities! Try mental challenges (puzzles, scent work), social outings (playdates, shelters), outdoor adventures (hiking, camping), or skill-building (agility, tricks). Prioritize safety and fun!
