I’ve taught my dog some fun tricks like rolling over, playing dead, and even fetching specific items by name. They love the mental challenge, and it’s a great bonding experience.

My best trick was learning how to say “hello” to people with my dog. Despite her slight sensitivity to touch, she is always being petted. She flinches or shrinks away from them, and since I don’t like to see her uncomfortable, I taught her how to politely tell strangers not to try to touch her by waving hello. I always advise people not to touch my dog in a gentler way by saying, “She’s a bit shy about being pet but she’ll wave hello to you if you wave to her.”

You can train your dog to pass through a hula hoop
It is one of the easiest training that you can do.
Simply place a treat on the other side of the hula hoop and once the dog goes through it, reward it with a treat

Here’s a breakdown of what i have taught my dog

The Basics:

  • Sit / Lie Down / Stay / Come: These are the fundamental commands. They help keep my dog safe and well-behaved.

The Fun Stuff:

  • Touch: This is where my dog touches an object or my hand with her nose. It’s a simple trick but very cute.
  • Paw / Other Paw: She offers one paw, then the other. It’s always a hit with friends and family.
  • Centre: She sits between my feet on command. It’s great for crowded places or just showing off.
  • Bring Your (Named Item): I can point to something like her leash or bone and she’ll fetch it. Super handy!
  • Bring the Mail: Every day, she helps out by carrying the mail home. It’s one of her favorite tasks.
  • Names of Toys, Leash, People in the House, and a Few Regular Guests: She knows the names of her toys, our family members, and even some regular visitors. It makes communication so much easier and fun!
