Why does my dog lay on me

Any dog trainers or behaviorists, I’d love your input!

In the past few years, my dog has developed a habit of laying on my chest when I’m on the couch. She wags her tail when I talk to her and stretches if I grab her paws, then buries her head in my neck.

It’s adorable, but I want to make sure this behavior means she’s happy and not something else.

She is getting older, and I just want to ensure her well-being. Is this just a sign of affection, or could it indicate a need or issue?

Aaw :hugs:, she loves smelling your pheromones. My guess is, your pet loves you and her laying on you is a way of showing trust, affection, loyalty, and love. Dogs are really incredible and lovely.

Dogs are social creatures that thrive on physical contact and affection, so laying on you is a way for your dog to feel close and connected to you.
