Why is my Dog Constantly licking lips

My dog won’t stop licking, smacking her lips, and making mouth sounds, despite having water available at all times. I find myself needing to keep her out of the room when she does this. Does anyone else’s dog exhibit similar behavior?

This behavior is known as ‘champing,’ which is a form of appeasement. Some dogs exhibit this behavior as they’re drifting off to sleep.

They may lick there lips due to oral health issues, such as dental disease, gum disease, or a foreign object stuck in the mouth, can cause discomfort that leads to lip licking. Lip licking can be a sign of stress or anxiety. Dogs often display this behavior in situations that make them uncomfortable or nervous.
